Prove It! Action Research for Racial Justice (Room 9205)
These days we have to prove that racism exists, not just that it’s bad for our communities. This workshop will use real-life examples to show how to design, carry out and use the kind of research you need to make your case. Includes a special emphasis on testing projects that reveal unequal treatment of people of color and whites with similar qualifications or needs.

Notes:
This was a much more practical workshop than, frankly, I expected from the title. These groups do not for a second lose sight of organizing as the reason for their research. For me, it demonstrated that we need to think carefully about what kind of research will work in our community, with our particular media and political situation, not to mention the constituency, issue, etc. These presenters clearly have done so, and set us all a good example.
