Tammy Johnson is the Director of the Race and Public Policy Program of the Applied Research Center. Johnson has many years of community experience working on public education, welfare and election reform issues, and has authored several reports on race and equity issues, including Vouchers: A Trap, Not a Choice: California School Vouchers Would Increase Racial Inequality, and Race, Education and No Child Left Behind: A Guide for Journalists. Her articles have appeared in a number of publications, including Leadership and ColorLines magazines. A Tennessee native, Johnson lived for many years in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she was Coalition Organizer for Wisconsin Citizen Action, Director of Progressive Milwaukee, and Board Member of the Wisconsin Community Fund.
