Jean Anyon is author most recently of Radical Possibilities: Public Policy, Urban Education, A New Social Movement and Ghetto Schooling: A Political Economy of Urban Education. Her articles on cities, race, social class and schools have been reprinted in over 40 edited collections, and translated into several languages. She teaches Education Policy in the Doctoral Program in Urban Education at the City University of New York.

Patterson Hold onto your ideals--I was a victim of social-economic background as a child. Children are people too. Stop the rhetorical comments made by individuals who have a political agenda. Too many children and not enough qualified parents and/or teachers to effectively maximize talents.
